Q: How does a Dairy Share work and what are the costs involved? A: You will purchase a percentage of one of our Saanen Dairy Goats. As the owner of such goat you are able to have all of the products that your goat provides. Milk for the above stated purpose and manure for your garden. There is a refundable buy in fee of $40 per lease share. This purchases your animal and guarantees that you will keep your animal for the lease share time period, which is 8 months. At the end of this term you have the option of retaining this animal for the next year and the deposit will automatically rolled over to 2013. Or you can sell the animal lease back to us for $40 at the end of your lease share. Once your contract is signed and deposit received you are locked into the contract price for as long as you remain a lease shareholder.
There is a monthly boarding fee which covers all costs involved in your animals care, of $24 per lease share, to be paid in advance. This will give you the option of up to 1 (one) Gallon of milk per week and all of the goat berries (with straw) that you want! Of course you have to bring a vehicle and load up that good manure compost on your own ;o) We feed, water, milk and provide any necessary vet treatments as needed. NOTE: Never will we provide milk from animals treated with antibiotics or de-wormers and if they are used proper milk withdrawal times are strictly adhered to. If we would not use it ourselves then we will not provide it to you!

All of our goats are tested annually for CAE, we are a CL free herd and each milker is on official DHI testing which involves monthly milk testing for Weight, Protein, Fat and SSC. So you do not need to worry about feeding this milk to your pet or livestock or using it for your soap making.
No hormones are fed, antibiotics only when medical necessary/life or death. Since we are strict about maintaining a healthy herd we rarely need to supplement any of our animals with antibiotics. Our hay and straw comes from a local farm and our grain is purchased from a local feed mill. The only feed that is not local is beet pulp, sunflower seeds and mineral mix. We have not been able to find a local provider for these items.
